He has studied at the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune. He specializes in directing comedy films. Most feature either Govinda, Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor or Sanjay Dutt in lead roles, along with Raveena Tandon, Karisma Kapoor and Juhi Chawla frequently playing the leading actresses. Kader Khan, Shakti Kapoor and Paresh Rawal frequently appear in his comedy films playing supporting roles. His biggest blockbuster success to date is the 1993 film Aankhen, starring Govinda and Chunkey Pandey. His most recent film Partner, has also proven to be a huge hit at the box office. He started of as an editor and then took the plunge into directing. He is considered one of the most successful directors in Bollywood, but he has many times been blamed for copying Hollywood and South Indian movies.
