We live in a time when many people don't seem to believe that things matter. Everything simply seems ordinary. So things like days, choices, efforts, and their own lives-many don't see as valuable and significant. But the Word indicates otherwise. It is all-important, every "ordinary" thing. We may think things are insignificant because we can't see the causes and effects in the spiritual world, but they're there. It distresses me to think that many people don't see the enormity and power of the small things they encounter in their everyday lives, the small choices, and the seemingly insignificant things that no other person sees. If you are one of those people who think that way, I wish I could reach out, grab you, shake you, and tell you, "No, no! It matters! What you do matters! What you believe matters! What you think matters! You matter!" Writing these stories, I became increasingly convinced that "ordinary," as we understand it, does not exist in God's realm. So, I continued to create true stories of everyday life because I believe that our extraordinary God shines through every common moment. My hope is that readers will see Him in the everyday stories and in their own lives. I wrote about Him being right there because you can't exist on earth without being touched by His fingertips! He is accessible to all and intensely interested in our ordinary, little lives.Hinweis: Dieser Artikel kann nur an eine deutsche Lieferadresse ausgeliefert werden.
The youngest of four Colcombe children, Arlene was born in Pittsburgh, PA. She grew up in the suburban borough of Fox Chapel, and after graduation from the Fox Chapel area furthered her education in Pittsburgh and later in Los Angeles. She spent a few years experimenting with various types of employment and living for fun experiences. Eventually, a prolonged hospital stay caused her to re-evaluate the direction of her life. She later returned to the East coast, after 15 months of traveling around the USA in her camper, settling in Naples, Florida. It was during that return trip that she found the missing life element; becoming a child of God through Christ. When she got a chance to write for some local newspapers, she found her passion. While writing for a Christian publication, Arlene interviewed a local Christian DJ, Jim Channell, formerly known as "Captain Whammo." His life had also done a complete turnaround from his days as a high-energy, licentious DJ in Chicago. The two married, Jim brought his new wife into the radio station, where she wrote her own devotional/short stories to use on her programs. The radio station is now gone, but both continue to pursue their own ministries; Jim produces a weekly syndicated radio program, Classic Christian Gold, and together they have created a 24/7 internet radio station. Arlene's passion for writing short story type devotionals, discovered while on the air, became the basis for this first collection of stories for publication.
