DBT is one treatment model that effectively deals with high levels of emotional/behavioral dysregulation and chronic, unsafe behavior often displayed by residential youth. Consequently, this training and consultation manual utilized the DBT model and aims to improve staff s ability in implementing an effective DBT-informed treatment, while increasing staff support and decreasing staff burnout and treatmentapathy.

Since 2003, Jessica Long has worked as a mental health clinician in outpatient, day school, inpatient, and residential settings. She received her master's degree in psychology in 2004 and her doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Hartford in 2011. She now resides with her family in southeastern Washington.
