This has now led to the psychological concept of a "wall in the mind" ("Mauer in Köpfen"), which represents a lack of understanding between West Germans and East Germans. Politically, among East Germans this psychological concept manifests itself in the presence of nostalgia for the times of the GDR "Ostalgie" (from the words "Ost" (East) and "Nostalgie" (nostalgia), and linguistically, in the use of the DDR-Deutsch version of the national language typical of East Germany.
