Author BioSharon is a retired airline pilot. US Airways hired her in 1980 as their first woman pilot, bypassing the flight engineer position. That was when less than one-half of one percent of the world's commercial pilots were women. The men in her new-hire class gave her the nickname "Bombshell." She flew Boeing 727s and 737s, DC-9s, and BAC 1-11 airliners and was promoted to captain in her seventh year.Before her pilot career, Sharon worked as a water-sports and boating model and then traveled the world as a flight attendant with Pan American World Airways.She also enjoyed flying antique airplanes, experimental aircraft, and Third-World fighter airplanes. Sharon has flown many of the airplanes in her award-winning Samantha Starr Thriller Series, featuring a woman pilot: Flight to Redemption, Flight to Destiny, Triple Threat, Stranded, and Vanished. Samantha Starr will return soon in Trapped.Sharon's Jettine Jorgensen Mystery Series features a young female private investigator who is of Cherokee and Danish heritage and lives in an old Viking-themed castle in Palm Beach County. The series began with award-winning Dead Silent.An experience with her beautiful black and white paint stallion, Chief, is included in the plot of Flight to Redemption, and her beloved Timber-shepherds, Pratt and Whitney, named after her favorite aircraft engine manufacturer, appear in her mystery series.
