The author of Prison Talkies, Pankhuri Sinha, has further explored the darkness of racial domination, and the politics of immigration in these poems. Her previous two books, collections of stories in Hindi, are also about moments of post-colonial negotiations, notions of independence, rights of women, and individuals, and questions of development in the modern era. Pankhuri is originally from India, from the eastern state of Bihar. Her upcoming books, books of poems in Hindi, and journalistic studies of crime, financial scam, lottery and academic politics, talk about comprehending the rights of individuals in a new global age. Pankhuri did her Master's in History from SUNY Buffalo in 2008. Her Phd the University of Calgary, specializing in British Imperialism, remains unfinished.
