By the first intermission the intense thunderstorm is overhead. The old auditorium reverberates to the violent tumult. When the electricity is restored, Ray Elkins, the Sheriff of Cedar County, is guided from his seat in the auditorium to the stage area. A member of the cast has been found fatally stabbed.

Aaron Stander is an American novelist and the author of 11 mystery/thriller novels. Before focusing on his writing career, Stander enjoyed a long career as a professor of English. In 2000 Aaron and his wife decided to take their lives in a new direction and relocated to their cottage near Traverse City, Michigan. In addition to his novels, Stander is the author of many articles, stories, and reviews. He is also the host of Michigan Writers on the Air on Interlochen Public Radio.
