Local Dartmouth Private Investigator, Ryan Scott, finds himself embroiled between two feuding London criminal families; the Downeys and the Gambols. Gambol took over the Downey's patch following Ray Downey's arrest during an armed robbery in 1985. Now, in 2016, Neil Downey, the youngest of the Downey clan, sees his opportunity to prove to his domineering father that he is ready to become a major player when he embarks on a plan to frame the Gambols in order to dislodge them thus restoring the Downeys to their rightful position as the prominent criminal force in London. Neil hatches a plot to frame Derek Gambol in a supposed drugs shipment; this does not go quite according to plan, resulting in an innocent victim being clubbed to death during the setup. Scott finds himself working with local police to bring the perpetrators to justice. His extensive local network becomes fundamental in tracking the guilty parties. Death in Dartmouth follows both Scott and the police while they chase the perpetrators. Will their efforts be enough to gain justice for the victim?

Autorenporträt
At school in what was laughably termed 'careers advice', when asked what he wanted to do for work, he answered proudly, "I'm going to be a diver!" When the teacher had stopped laughing, he was told "You'll never make that; you'll be lucky to get a job sweeping streets." This made him even more determined not to fit into the normal pigeonholes of a bigoted grammar school in the early 1970s.Over the next few years, he found himself to be fortunate enough to exploit good fortune and was able to prove them all wrong. He did become a commercial diver, working in both the inshore civil engineering and offshore oilfields around the world. Later he would manage diving projects as well as teaching commercial diving and underwater inspection techniques to a wide range of clients both in the UK and overseas.Upon retirement, Josh decided that, having written a number of instructional texts and technical manuals, he should try his hand at writing books, deciding to attempt a little fiction. Death in Dartmouth is the result.
