Death came to the Aztecs in 1521. Two years after Hernán Cortés landed on the shores of Mexico, the Aztecs had lost millions of people to disease, and violence. Only Tenochtitlán remained as a stronghold, but the Aztecs were suffering. For months tribes were allying with the Spanish conquistadors against the city, forcing people to flee into the jungle for safety. Many sought refuge in the war-torn city of Cholula, like Xóchitl, daughter of a disgraced chief. Xóchitl wants to try and save the Aztecs in this catastrophic war against the pale faced invaders, but she is quickly taken captive by some curious conquistadors who are not all what they seem. One in particular, Tómas Almansor, has taken a strong liking to Xóchitl, and reveals some information that has the young woman questioning everything in her known world. When fighting finally comes to a bloody head at the Battle of Colhuacatonco, and the Aztecs fail to push back the conquistadors for good, it's going to take an act of the gods for the natives to accept their fate. Will Tómas be able to save Xóchitl from the fall of her people, or will she succumb to death?
