All Abigail Martin ever wanted was to be normal, but there wasn't a prayer in hell that was ever going to happen. The skeletons in her closet were stacked so high, it looked like a grave yard. Her mother, Annette, was as loony as the Mad Hatter. Aunt Lil, whom Abby adored, was harboring family secrets. And Abby was stricken with nightmares that threatened to make her as mad as her mother. After a long, hard road, Abby finally started to get her life straightened out when her mother became ill. Annette summoned Abby to her bedside to make amends for the rift in their lives. The accusations Annette made about her sister, Lil, enraged Abby, but also stirred her curiosity for the family history. When Abby returned to the home she shared with Lil, she pursued her curiosity and put Lil on the spot to spill the family secrets. The stories Lil recounted kept Abby on the edge of her seat, and when she finished, Abby saw Lil in a different light. Even if she did commit a murder and dispose of the body so no one would know, she was her hero. And then, as though fate stepped in, Lil was gruesomely murdered in a robbery gone awry while Abby was living abroad. The news struck her hard; Abby felt as though she'd lost everything she cared for. Lil had often spoke about ones need for revenge. Although Abby found it peculiar when Lil spoke of that need, that need became quite clear upon Lil's death. Feeling as though she had nothing left to lose, Abby decides it's high time to seek that revenge on the very people who caused those nightmares that nearly drove her mad. With the help of PI Kenneth Brown, she finds the men that took something precious from her a long time ago, and she takes something equally precious from them, one by one until there is none.
