The analysis focuses on whether or not the Bauchi state government has the problem of managing its debt; whether or not Bauchi state debt management policies are effective; and whether or not Bauchi state government intervention has significant improvement on debt management. The study found that the Bauchi state government has a problem managing its debt; Bauchi state debt management policies are not effective; and, Bauchi state government intervention has significant improvement on the debt management of Bauchi state. For the Bauchi state government of Nigeria, the study equally recommendsan optimal mix of external and domestic debts in the public debt portfolios and channelling acquired loans to productive activities.
