Iara Andrade Senra est historienne et professeur d'histoire au département de l'éducation de l'État de Rio de Janeiro. Elle est titulaire d'un doctorat en histoire comparée de l'université fédérale de Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) et d'une maîtrise en histoire sociale de l'université Severino Sombra (USS). Elle se consacre à l'histoire politique et plus particulièrement à la recherche sur l'identité nationale.
