The Indian agricultural acts of 2020, often known as the Farm Bills, were three acts begun in September 2020 by the Indian Parliament. The bills were adopted by the Lok Sabha and by the Rajya Sabha in September 2020 and President, Ram Nath Kovind, granted his approval. The rules would have deregulated a system of government-run wholesale markets, enabling farmers to sell directly to food processors. However, farmers believed that this would lead to the elimination of government-guaranteed price floors, resulting in lower crop prices. This prompted opposition to the new laws. Later, the Supreme Court suspended the execution of the farm laws and created a commission to investigate farmer complaints over the agricultural legislation. In a public address in November, 2021prime minister Narendra Modi declared that his administration will abolish the legislation. This book investigates about the circumstances which led to the formulation of Farm bills by the Government of India.
