Our lives are full of defining moments. But do we recognise them? Are we prepared for them? Do we understand them and build on them?
Often we are going too fast to see the significance of defining moments. Sometimes we can be too blinkered to recognise their full impact. It is often only as we look back that we see the full significance of key moments in our lives.
In our work the pressure might be relentless. We are focused on one task after another. Striving for targets leads to a one track mind and we might fail to see and enjoy moments of significance for us.
When we understand the defining moments we are going through, it helps put our work and life in proportion. It enables us to enjoy and relish those moments of significance and to move on in a constructive way from moments that might feel destructive.
The book takes us on a journey through
living in the moment:
stretching the moment
surviving difficult moments
treasuring the moment
capturing the moment
creating future moments
This book shows you how to recognise, appreciate and build on these defining moments.
In today's fast world it is hard to find time to treasure key moments. The author shows how to appreciate the special moments in life and balance work and personal priorities

"When things are not quite right and you have a moment to call time, you have to take that moment, speak up and act. This requires a particular awareness and self-confidence and it's a capacity I'm always trying to improve. Peter's book encapsulates practical ways of recognising that at any given moment, there are no second chances."

"Defining moments in my work included times when I had the courage to be explicit about the consequences of courses of action which were leading deeper into problems. Moments of standing back have been so important in bringing clarity about finding the right solution. Reading this book will help give you a new approach to standing back and then taking decisive action. Allowing defining moments to frame your next steps will keep you fresh and alert to the changes you are going through."
