According to CIOB's report (2008), 67% of high rise building projects experience delays and Mauritius, being a developing island with an active construction sector is no indifferent to this. Delays can be minimized only when their causes are identified. Hence, the first objective of this book is to provide an overview of the various causes of delays namely from the client, the consultant and the contractor's point of view. Even the simplest and smallest form of delays can have huge impacts on construction projects. Consequently, the second objective describes which of these impacts are most common in the Mauritian construction industry. Lastly, in order to avoid these impacts, steps must be taken to mitigate delays and the last part of this book focuses on the various methods to minimize delays again from the client, consultant and contractor's point of view. This research was made possible with the participation of consultants from private and public sector and its findings enabled us to have a better overview about the parties which contribute the most to construction delays but above all, it shows whether this never ending issue of delay, can be minimized if not eliminated.
