60 easy recipes for delicious Japanese street foods--to make at home and share with friends! Colorful Yatai street stalls in Japan serve all sorts of delicious items--from steaming bowls of Ramen noodles with all your favorite fixings to healthy Onigiri rice balls stuffed with seafood and crispy Gyoza dumplings with cabbage, minced pork and ginger. Mmmmm...good! This new cookbook by Laure Kie, Europe's leading Japanese cookbook author, takes you on a fascinating culinary journey down the back lanes of Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto where the best food can be found--and teaches you how to prepare these easy dishes at home, including: * Yakitori: Soy-glazed chicken morsels grilled kebab-style, with momo (thigh meat chunks) and tebasaki (wings) being the most popular! * Katsu Sando: Thin pork cutlets breaded and fried to perfection--crispy on the outside, tender inside then placed inside a sandwich with mayo and lettuce! * Okonomiyaki: Calling this stuffed pancake a "Japanese pizza" hardly does it justice--with its unique filling of cabbage, meat and egg with condiments and a sweet soy-based sauce drizzled on top! * Karaage: Crispy chicken nuggets are a favorite everywhere and the Japanese version is definitely addictive--mouth-watering pillows of meat marinated in mirin, garlic and soy then coated in potato flour to give them a unique crunch! * Onigiri: The "new sushi" and simple kawaii treat, these versatile rice balls can contain pretty much anything--from bits of seafood and seaweed to herbs and seasonal veggies! All the recipes feature easy-to-get ingredients and preparations you can easily make at home. Each recipe has a full color photo and simple instructions.
