Autorenporträt
Ana María Matute, geboren 1925 in Barcelona, wuchs während des Spanischen Bürgerkriegs auf. Ihre Erfahrungen aus dieser Zeit finden sich in traurigen Themen ihrer Bücher wieder.

1959 wurde ihr für ihren Roman "Erste Erinnerung" der Nadal-Literaturpreis verliehen. Seit 1996 war sie Mitglied der Königlich Spanischen Akademie, die über die spanische Sprache wachte - als einzige Frau neben der 2010 gewählten Soledad Puértolas. 2011 wurde sie mit dem "Cervantes-Preis" ausgezeichnet. Ana María Matute verstarb 2014.
