Dental traumas are quite common in dentistry involving injuries to the teeth, periodontium and surrounding soft tissues. Unsafe playing on playgrounds, accidents at schools, accidents in car crashes or violence are some of the causes due to which children and adolescents experience mild or severe dental traumas. Proper emergency care after TDI is needed to improve prognosis of the tooth and prevent complications. Dental trauma is a procedure where the initial appointment cannot be anticipated or scheduled. It carries risk, diagnostic uncertainty and involves potential long-term follow-up for the patient. Given this variability, evidence-based practice is best established at the population level where large data can provide some guidance. This book summarizes the prevalence, incidence, aetiology, clinical features, radiological features, treatment plan, prognosis, outcomes and prevention of dental trauma.
