Due to the lack of oral health services including dental manpower, there is an enormous back log of unmet dental treatment needs and the facilities available are inadequate and insufficient to cope up with the increasing levels of oral diseases and demand for various treatments. Strong cultural barriers, as a result of people's illiteracy, beliefs and attitudes regarding oral care affect the utilization of dental services. The mobile dental clinics have been successfully used to provide dental treatment to school children, disabled patients, rural communities, industrial workers and the armed forces of various countries.
