This work, anchored on a PhD research thesis, is focused on the deposit taking Savings and Credit cooperatives(Saccos) in Kenya. To address deposit mobilization strategies, Customer Focus, Technological Adoption, Product Development and Marketing Strategies as the independent variables. It also addresses a moderating variable; Firm characteristics and their effects on performance of deposit taking. Financial intermediation in developing countries is a key socio-economic objective of the leadership due to its critical role in mobilization of capital for investments and hence economic growth and development. Deposit taking institutions therefore play a crucial part in the financial ecosystem and thus strategies aimed at enhancing and promoting an active contribution of the Saccos in Kenya are a key study area especially due to their impact on deepening and broadening financial access, inclusion and affordability and outreach to many rural and urban lower to middle income sections of the population. The specific findings and recommendations are discussed in the report and the use of the study is to improve the performance of their institutions through a strategic management approach.
