Depression sucks. It is a cunning and deceitful ailment that sabotages any attempt at addressing it. As a clinician providing treatment for depression I have witnessed the struggle first hand when those suffering do all they can to make it to an appointment and once there, don't have anything to say. The days seem endless and everything runs together. Sometimes you can't sleep at night and other times you want to sleep around the clock. Nobody else gets it and you just don't have the energy to explain it one more time so you quit answering the phone. When I was desperate to crawl out of my own depression and technique fell flat, I recognized the root of this problem was much deeper than brain chemistry and behavior. I needed more than a pill that would start working in 2-3 weeks and a one-hour talk with someone. Do you suspect there may be a better way to deal with all of this? Is there something you have missed? If you are willing to look in the places most don't want to- if you are willing to ask yourself questions most of us stopped asking long ago- and if what you have been doing has not worked, you may be ready to receive what the Father has for those that are "the poor in spirit" like I was.
