Leo Frobenius, geb. 1873 in Berlin und gestorben 1938 in Biganzolo, ist bis zum heutigen Tag der bekannteste Kulturanthropologe der deutschsprachigen Ethnologie. Er gründete schon 1898 ein eigenes afrikanisches Forschungsinstitut und verfaßte zwischen 1994 und 1937 mehr als 50 Werke.
