This book has been written for all types of people, professional or not, who would like to become aware of the phenomenon of desertification which affects most of the world's regions. Indeed, almost half of the planet's surface is concerned by land degradation and desertification. Moreover, with the acceleration of climate change, the phenomenon of desertification is more and more palpable. It is estimated that if nothing is done, 10 million hectares of arable land will be lost every year. This manuscript, which analyzes the vulnerability to desertification of one of the regions most affected by the phenomenon, aims to draw the attention of the different stakeholders to the need for action. In this document, we propose a method to target the regions most vulnerable to desertification in order to prioritize and schedule development work and thus fight land degradation more effectively. This method is applicable to all regions of the world provided that specific and reliable indicators are identified.
