Power crisis is a major issue in developing countries like Bangladesh. Day by day the problem is increasing rapidly. Though various initiatives have been taken over the years by government, individual and private investors to make a proper solution, they were all been very small in size and less effective. Solar energy would be an effective solution for highly populated cities like Dhaka. Many companies in private and government sector are encouraging people to use solar power as the fuel cost of other energy resources are very high to generate enough electricity. Though in recent days Instant Power Supply (IPS) has been popular, it cannot be an appropriate solution to meet the growing demand as it is completely dependent on grid energy. This thesis illustrates a detailed design and analysis of 'Double Fed Solar IPS' for apartment buildings in overpopulated cities like Dhaka including the factors and parameters with limited data and information resources available for Bangladesh.A cost analysis (based on Bangladeshi currency 'taka'), simulation result and the prospect of 'Double Fed Solar IPS' in advancing smart grid on commercial basis have been discussed in detail.
