The main objective of the book is to explore the design of Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV) for surveillance and light weight transportation. An Unmanned ground Vehicle (UGV) is any piece of mechanized equipment that moves across the surface of the ground and serves as a means of transporting, but explicitly does not carry a human being. In this book the design of the chassis with 5mm thick plate and it is fastened to the rigid frame work through nut and bolts is explored. In order to reduce the weight of the vehicle the chassis and framework is made out of aluminium alloys. The vehicle is powered by four 400 watts geared brushless dc motor. The total weight of the vehicle is 40 kg and can carry a payload of weighing up to 20kg. The Steering mechanism is done by relative motion of the wheels. The Braking system is actuated by a cam powered by separate stepper motor. For surveillance a 360° rotatable camera is mounted at the top of the body. In order to avoid collision the vehicle isincorporated with proximity sensors in front and rear ends and various sensors are used to enhance the surveillance. Tele-operation is done through zig bee technology.
