Mobile robots have evolved from indoor experimental use to outdoor deployment. This book describes the design and implementation of one such robot a fully functioning mobile robot intended for autonomous outdoor robot navigation with the ability to autonomously cross roads at pedestrian crossings. It describes how a mixture of existing and new technologies and solutions can be combined to design such a robot. The design is validated by real world experiments where experiments were performed on a real pedestrian crossing in the presence of vehicles and pedestrians.
