Optical dipole traps are a powerful tool to investigate the properties of atoms at ultralow temperatures. Since the trapping potentials are very shallow high laser power is requested. In the maxima of a Fabry-Perot type interferometer the optical power becomes amplified which can be used in order to enhance the trap depth of a dipole trap. Such a resonator design is presented which is aimed to trap a mixture of different fermionic species. Produktbeschreibung
This book is based on the diploma thesis of the author and was intended not only to report on the work done but also to give a general overview of the topic. Whenever possible it was tried to derive all necessary formulas from basic principles which shall help diploma students or PhD students when they are confronted to design and optimize such a trap from scratch. Several additional aspects are discussed which might be useful. Examples are controlling piezo resonances, laser stabilization or measuring laser noise. The experimental part shows in detail the design and measurements and discusses several problems which had to be solved.
