This study was carried out for the covered warehouses of a company responsible for the storage, conservation and custody of imported goods, with the objective of designing the storage and material handling system. Through an initial diagnosis, existing problems were identified in the warehouses, such as inefficiency in the storage and handling of goods. The height, volume and area utilization indicators were calculated and found to be out of range. The storage capacity in tons was calculated for the two warehouses and the principle of location by popularity was used to locate the goods depending on the number of requirements. After verifying both methods, it was decided to present the layout redesign achieving an improvement in the location of the goods. This work is focused on the improvement of storage warehouses of unitized goods and should be very useful for professionals in the field of logistics in the warehouse or for those who wish to know how the design of a storage and material handling system is carried out.
