"Strange and unpredictable is the power of fate...." Two men, one white and one black, from diverse backgrounds become street vagrants in the same large city. The white man, internationally known as one of the world's greatest opera tenors, has been reduced to despair after being accused of a crime that he never committed. The tenor, Paco Reyes, out of desperation, is compelled to befriend a black ex-longshoreman from Louisiana, Jake Brandon. In the other, it was an accusation that had not been proven. The only thing that they have in common is that they are travelling on a perilous and desperate journey to nowhere! They are bound by their belief that today is no different than yesterday and tomorrow will be no different than today. A strange turn of events leads to their rescue from the streets by Jake's wife who takes both men back to Chicago to live as a family. However, the unpredictable hand of fate intervenes; and one of the two men is arrested and accused of murder. During the trial, there are many ups and downs. Untimely, and an unexpected move will allow a young, attractive defense counsel to throw the courtroom into turmoil and present unexpected surprises. All of the emotions of man come into play with this story. There is love, intrigue, hate, sorrow, green, happiness, opulence, despair and retribution.
