Have you ever had a gut feeling that you ignored? Or didn't follow your instincts? Of course you have, we've all done it. But what if that gut feeling could change the course of your life? What if a chance encounter with a stranger in the middle of the desert could save you from disaster? Based on a true story, "Destiny Rides Shotgun" is a thrilling journey that chauffeurs you back five decades and ignites your sense of adventure. Buckle up and get ready for the ride of a lifetime. Amsterdam, 1973. Time to move on. Duane, Scott, and Dave blast out on a road trip in their trusty VW sedan. With the wind in their hair and rock & roll blaring, they race through Europe towards the exotic East, chasing the thrill of adventure. But disaster strikes in the Desert of Death in remote Afghanistan. Their car flips over, and they find themselves at the mercy of an angry tribal crowd. Just when all seems lost, a mysterious Afghan merchant appears and whisks them away to safety. But this is no ordinary encounter. As they make their way to Kabul, Afghanistan, the three friends can't help but wonder if this is all part of some greater plan. They can't shake off the feeling that they are being guided by some unseen force and are meant to meet this stranger in the desert. And thus, the Theory of Dots is born, a way to make sense of the inexplicable events that unfold on their trip and how human instinct and intuition transcend their imagination. Join the trio on their epic adventure when rock and roll was dangerous, sex was safe, and travel required luck. The trio survives eight thousand kilometers, equivalent to five thousand miles, with no internet, no social media, no WhatsApp, and no smart phones to find their way or save their butts. If you enjoy books like "On the Road" by Jack Kerouac or "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" by Hunter S. Thompson, you'll love "Destiny Rides Shotgun" by Duane Eastman. It's a hair-raising historical travel memoir that will leave you questioning the role of destiny in our lives. So, hop on board and experience the danger, excitement, and self-discovery of a journey that throws open the door to unexpected realities. Don't miss out on the nail-biting action, as Duane and his pals rely on their instincts and wits to avoid the wrath of Afghan authorities. Click the Buy Now button and hang on!

Autorenporträt
I trace my desire to write directly to asking bothersome questions in my youth. Long before I actually wrote anything, I was edited. I pestered my father with questions constantly. At about 6 years old, he'd had enough and told me to stop saying "why?" I immediately switched to "how come?" In the future, editing would become critical to good writing and back then, it served a timely purpose of allowing me to continue pestering my father. In the early 80s, I was a one-man in-house advertising agency for a family-owned business. I conceived, composed, and manually produced the catalogs, price lists and brochures. Then I manually created each layout page one letter at a time with a then innovative process that took hours. Finally, I burned the plates for a small printing press-I can still smell the ink. The fundamentals I learned then- copywriting, layout work, and final production, laid the groundwork to write and self-publish. Learn more about me on my website: ctdbook.com.
