The Lucanian Apennine is certainly one of the main seismically active regions of Southern Italy. The main goal of this work is to provide new insights on the seismotectonics of the study region through detailed analysis of background seismicity (ML 3). Thanks to the denser coverage of seismic stations achieved during the last decade, I was able to define more accurately the stress field and the active seismogenic zones. Furthermore, this study can be very useful for the seismotectonic zoning and the seismic hazard assessment.
