The purpose for conducting such a work was to check out the causes of spreading cancer in Pakistan. Meat is an essential source of protein in people's diet in this country. During the past 10 years the amount of meat consumed has increased by 10%. It has been observed that in many areas such as Kasur and Ring road areas industrial effluents are allowed to irrigate the fields where food crops are farmed. It is a known fact that heavy metals, which are a part of the industrial wastes, can be taken up by these plants and can get incorporated into the food chain. These heavy metals, such as Chromium (VI), are highly carcinogenic. An analysis is sought in this research to investigate the amount of heavy metals, which are stored in the meat of cattle and goats so that measures can be taken to curb the occurrence of cancer in the population.
