The methods used nowdays for the determination of heavy metals in environment samples involve highly sensitive spectroscopic techniques, such as atomic absorption spectroscopy and inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry(ICP-MS ).The aim of this work was to evaluate two different techniques (ICP-MS and XRF)for the determination of total concentrationof 13 metals in surface sediments and soils samples collected from Rive Nile and its tributaries around Khartoum City (Sudan).
