Carbon paste electrodes have been widely applied in electroanalytical field due to its low cost, ease of fabrication, high sensitivity for detection and renewable surface. Modification with ionic crystals introduce benefits such as marked conductivity, sensitivity and rapid electron transfer. Electrodeposition of gold nanoparticles onto the surface of carbon paste electrodes was another strategy to enhance the sensitivity of sensors. Hereby, Nepafenac was determined using carbon paste electrode, modified carbon paste electrodes with carbon multiwalled nanotubes and 1-n-butyl-3-methylpyridinium hexafluorophosphate ion crystals, glassy carbon disc electrode and highly sensitive gold nanoparticles modified carbon paste electrodes. The voltammetric measurement of NPF demonstrate higher selectivity and sensitivity in pure form, pharmaceutical dosage form and rabbit aqueous humor samples using differential and square wave voltammetric techniques. The electrodes preparation is easy and simple. The results illustrate that the methods are applicable for routine analysis.
