Six genotypes of Soybean sources from IITA Kano Station were used to determine the physical and chemical properties. They were layout at CRD, repeated three times at the Faculty Lab, data were collected on physical and chemical parameters. Analysis of variance revealed highly significant different in respect to all traits with the exception of seed width and germination percentage. Data on 100 seed weight among varieties varied from 9.34g-12.99g, these results are in accordance with Srivastava and Jain,(1994), the differences can be greatly be exploited in breeding programme for improvement…mehr

Data on 100 seed weight among varieties varied from 9.34g-12.99g, these results are in accordance with Srivastava and Jain,(1994), the differences can be greatly be exploited in breeding programme for improvement purposes. The results indicated that, the % protein (37-39%) are within the ranged reported by US, however low oil contents reported ranged from (1-2.9%) which was lower than the US range (8.1% to 27.9%) may be due to genetic weakness in respects to theses genotypes, this indicated that the genotypes are very poor in respect to oil contents. It also observed that Genotype TGX 1987-10F has the highest Ash contents, % Crude proteins and % Ether extract with 5.28%, 39.956% and 2.96% respectively then others genotypes.
