This project is aimed at determining the performance characteristics of a Solar Water Heating System (SWHS) which consist of a single-glazed flat plate solar collector made up of storage tanks (Inlet and Outlet) and the collector unit which comprises a wooden casing (35.375" X 17.25"), copper tube (9 meters long and 0.5" in diameter), and aluminum foil (33" X 17"). Some modifications were made on the system which enhanced the performance of the system from an average outlet temperature of 60.5°C to 70.1°C. The SWHS which has potential applications in agro-industries and homes, can be use domestically for bathing, cooking e.t.c and also in the area for pen cleaning in piggeries, dairy operations: to clean or sterilize equipment and to warm and stimulate cow's udder.
