Deuteronomy repeats the previous three books. These of course are Exodus, Leviticus, and Numbers. It is a repetition in that we can see the history and the laws. Deuteronomy is considered the second law. It is not a new law but as explained is expanded. This would be a continuing education of the people concerning their relationship to God and a preparation to go into the land of promise. All four books should be studied before Deuteronomy is studied. This will give the reader a good feel for the history of the children of Israel until they became a nation in the Promised Land.
