Joseph H. McDonald, CPP, PSP, CMAS, CPOI, is a retired Chief Security Officer (CSO) for Switch Ltd., where he was responsible for building the technology and data center company's personnel, physical, critical infrastructure, and information security auditing for certifications (HIPAA, PCI, SSAE, ISO 2700X, FISMA, etc.). For the past 35 years, McDonald has worked in many aspects of the security profession, as a private investigator, police officer, corporate facility security officer (FSO) for a defense contractor, security director for a national bank, senior security consultant, and an engineered systems sales manager for major systems integrators, where he designed large security and surveillance systems. McDonald has served as secretary, treasurer, and vice president of the ASIS Board of Trustees for the organization's international foundation. In addition, he spent two terms on the ASIS Board of Directors and four years as council vice president, where his leadership and oversight guided six councils and their volunteer members. McDonald is often sought for his opinions on training, certification programs, procedures, and policy issues, and he was appointed to The International Foundation for Protection Officers Board of Directors and currently is a member of the IFPO Advisory Board.
