58% and 42% farmers' used O-9897 and CVL-1 variety, respectively. Two third of the farmers' bought their seeds from BADC and stored their seeds in earthen pot, gunny bag, tin pot, plastic pot, gunny bag lined with polythene, poly bag and cloth bag. Among five tiers, breeder seed showed best performance and farmers' and NGO's seeds were found the poorest.Storage containers affecting germination.Tin pot and IRRI poly bag storing seeds had the best performance in respect of germination, plant height, plant/m2, base diameter, number of branch, number of pod/capsule, stick yield, fibre yield and seed yield. BAU- Biofungicide and Provax-200 showed superior means for controlling field fungi with higher seed yield and better improvement of seed quality. In top cutting method lowest mortality was found with BAU- Biofungicide treated cuttings. Germination and seed yield were maximum in top cutting compared to line sowing method. Line sowing had less cost of seed production and more BCR than top cutting method. So, Quality of jute seeds can be maintained by storage in tin pot with provax-200 treated and 9.5% moisture content and seed and cutting treated and foliar spray with BAU-Biofungicide.
