This book aims to examine, on the one hand, the extent to which translation can contribute to the improvement of the students' knowledge of the foreign language, as well as of their mother tongue; on the other hand, the author plans to investigate a series of didactic strategies related to teaching translation as an independent activity, a distinct skill which has to be developed in order to be used by students both in interlinguistic and intercultural communication and in their endeavor to become professional translators or interpreters.
