This book comprises of synthesis of aluminium matrix composite using particulate reinforcement. The dispersion of reinforcement particles exhibits an extraordinary effect on the mechanical properties and tribological behaviour of the aluminium alloys. It is noted that the addition of reinforcement improves the properties of composites but sometimes on a compromise of other properties. To optimize the overall performance of the composite material, the dispersion of more than one reinforcement in the alloy matrix is by and large a better idea to hold the good characteristic of individual reinforcement particles in the composite. The essence of this work is to determine the importance of heat treatment and the volume fraction of reinforcements in enhancing the properties of the material. In general, the properties of as-cast composites show poor mechanical as well as wear properties and there is a need to improve the properties. Hence, it is felt that study the effect of heat treatment and hybrid reinforcement in composite could be beneficial for their application in the automobile, aerospace and general engineering sectors.
