Insect populations are naturally affected by a wide variety of Environmental factors, both biotic and abiotic, often termed as natural control. One aspect of natural control is biological control refers to a field of study involving manipulation of natural enemies. Green lacewing, Chrysoperla carnea is a generalist predatory arthropod, whose role in suppression of herbivorous arthropod population has becomes the subject of renewed research. Chrysopids are applied in home gardens, row crops orchards and greenhouses on a variety of crops. The predator efficiency is affected by the diet and temperature. There is a growing awareness that many generalist predators consume not only broad range of arthropods prey but also exploit plant based resources. The present work is an attempt to evaluate the factors affecting efficiency of the predator for its successful utilization. Study also provide information required for its mass propogation and conservation of natural population.
