Development engineering organizes the information obtained and designs a product primarily from a specific market need. It informs its input requirements so that the project decisions are consistent with the expected results. In the elaboration of a project the responsible engineers must elaborate alternative solutions to the problems that arise during the development of the product. This work has developed a mechanical design of a brake system aimed at off-road vehicles through the definition of the project components and the analysis of the vehicle dynamics of the chassis. Practical temperature tests performed on a bench in two models of brake discs, with and without energy dissipation channels showed similar behavior in dissipation efficiency, being possible to justify the best option for the project. This mechanical project is able to participate in a BAJA SAE Brazil engineering competition for being in compliance with the items of the internal regulations.
