Quality Function Deployment (QFD) is an important tool in product planning and development that is capable of improving customer satisfaction and shortening product development lifecycle. Due to that QFD is a team tool and group process, geographically distributed team members are likely to pose a challenging issue on the common practice and usage of it. In this research, a prototype Web-based QFD system has been proposed and implemented in order to mitigate the aforementioned concern. Based on the potential deficiency in technical correlation matrix, the proposed application adopts a new approach in managing the engineering correlations. Besides, user experience is expected to be improved by including various enhancements, such as visual illustration of results. An example of a software module design has been used to demonstrate and examine the proposed system in a multi-national business software company. Positive results, including improved communication and collaboration among team members and shortened and smoothed product development lifecycle, have been observed during the case study.

My name is Haoqing (Horace) Guo. I graduated from the University of Auckland with Bachelor of Technology majoring in Information Technology (1st class Honours) in 2005. In March 2009, I earned my Master of Engineering majoring in Manufactouring Engineering from the University of Auckland under the supervision of Prof Xun Xu.
