Aloe vera shows wide spectrum of antibacterial activity against a number of periodontal pathogens. Hence Aloe vera is selected of site specific delivery for the treatment of Periodontitis. Aloe vera is formulated into films by solvent casting technique using ethyl cellulose, Carbopol 971p and Hydroxy propyl methyl cellulose k4m ,followed by a progressive fall and extended with PEG 4000 as plasticizer and prepared films were evaluated for various properties such as weight variation, tensile strength, moisture loss, drug content, in-vitro drug release, In-vitro antibacterial and stability studies. The thickness among the different films was uniform, tensile strength was minimum for pain films and maximum for films containing drug.
