All round weakness of India's infrastructure remains to be a perennial feature of the economy, while many other non-economic characteristics of the society also contributed much more to the underperformance of the Indian economy. Inefficiencies and weaknesses of an overstretched infrastructure continue to badger the economy. In view to overcome from the inadequacies, the standard of India's infrastructure needs improvement. Cross-country estimates of the model indicate that the contribution of infrastructure services to GDP is substantial and, in general, exceeds the cost of provision of those services. The book is largely consumer and business oriented and keeping with the trend toward giving a broader perspective of infrastructure based development, authors tried to analyze the nature of infrastructure in a very intensive manner.
