The Government of Bayelsa State of Nigeria has made concerted efforts in the last ten years in promoting fish production in the State. Evidenced by the launching of the homestead fish farm programme, shrimp culture production and Niger Delta Sea Foods Company, all to increase fish production, to reduce the problems associated with low protein intake faced by low income earners who cannot afford meat always in their meals. Launching the programmes was not sufficient to turn around the situation. It was observed that the fundamental skills required for homestead fish production were grossly lacking in participants. For this reason, the author deem it necessary to make available a training module. The book therefore developed training modules that can be very significant to training agencies, agricultural educators and fisheries experts to actualize the dreams of Government.
