This book elaborates proving, development, modeling and optimization of hybrid arc welding alternative to conventional arc welding process vis-à-vis cost, productivity and quality. It manifests an Analytic framework which merges the parameter ranking technique with the parameter optimization technique for the Hybrid TIG-MAG arc welding process. The framework using Multiple Attribute Decision Making (MADM) ranks the parameters and routes the critical few for optimization using Response Surface Methodology (RSM) to achieve synergy in their interactions. The book postulates a mathematical model on Particle Tracing for the weld metal transfer. The high speed imaging of the process has been utilized to validate the modeled postulates. This book further elaborates comparative studies of devised hybrid welding practice against conventional welding practice based on the weld microstructure, transverse impact strength of the welded joint and power consumption for the desired rate of metaltransfer. The book boasts a platform to help extend the devised hybrid alternative beyond metal joining to surface processing.
