Process development (PD) is one of the most important components of process research and development (R & D). PD may be defined as, an optimization of the individual stage as well as the overall process arrived by process research and changing the condition and chemistry, if necessary. Process development (PD) is one of the most important components of process research and development (R & D). PD may be defined as, an optimization of the individual stage as well as the overall process arrived by process research and changing the condition and chemistry, if necessary. PD is done in the laboratory as well as in the pilot plant. A commercial manufacturing process should be design to produce a pure, safe, stable product that is reproducible and cost effective. In the present work some novel routes for the synthesis of intermediates of drugs, Etoricoxib, Pioglitazone and Niacin has been designed successfully by PD. After designing the novel routes, the intermediates used in the synthesis of drugs, Etoricoxib, Pioglitazone and Niacin were synthesized with simple methodology and reasonable good yield. The novel method developed can reduce the cost involved in the synthesis of final drugs. The developed process could be used for the synthesis of the intermediate at thelarge scale.
