A novel approach that utilizes the principles of ayurvedic system which offers features of both modified release and immediate release from "fast melt granules". Past few years immediate release drug delivery system has emerged as a tool for the delivery of the drugs. These forms play major role in the design of solid dosage form because of their characteristic properties and flexibility found in their manufacturing.Use of fast melt granules as a vehicle in immediate release drug delivery system has received significant attention. Fastmelt dosage forms are pharmaceutical formulations in which the active substance is present as a number of small independent subunits with diameter of 0.05-2.00 mm. In case of oral products fastmelt granules solve difficult swallowing, dysphagia problems while maintaining a high degree of bioavailability due to smaller in size (10 - 600 mim). Due to their unique properties and flexibility of manufacturing involved, fastmelt system are expected to continue to play a major role in the fabrication of solid dosage forms.
